Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police say early analysis show the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for details.
A senior representative stated the attack left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
