Dhan Bahadur Chaudhary
The courageous student threw back a explosive device from militant forces before being captured in the assault on Israel in the recent conflict, states the fellow Nepalese student he saved.
"I may not have endured if both grenades had detonated. He showed bravery and hurled the device away," Dhan Bahadur Chaudhary disclosed to news sources.
The survivor was commenting after the defense forces identified his friend's body as being among four deceased hostages returned by Hamas under the recent truce agreement.
Bipin was twenty-three and employed on a kibbutz when he was seized by Hamas into captivity along with 250 others on 7 October 2023. It remains unclear the circumstances of he passed away.
His loved ones prayed right up to the negotiation cutoff that he might be among surviving captives returned on the specified date, but he wasn't, and a subsequent day their worst fears were confirmed.
Assault Details
Bipin, his friend and 15 other Nepalese farming students had been in Israel for just over a short period when Kibbutz Alumim was attacked.
"The students were aware that there may be a war in Israel. But we had little expectation that there may be any physical assault of that scale," Dhan Bahadur explained. "We believed that there could be missile attacks and we would be safe if we stay underground, in the bunkers."
For the young individuals who'd been selected under the Israeli government's "Earn and Learn Programme" it was a great chance to improve circumstances for their futures and their loved ones in Nepal.
Dhan Bahadur attributes his safety to Bipin's courage.
"At the time of attack, two grenades were thrown near the shelters. My friend grabbed a device and hurled it away; another detonated within. Due to that blast, I and several companions were wounded," he says.
"Bipin was unharmed at that moment. If both grenades had detonated, I would not have been speaking with you like this."
Ten of the Nepalese students were killed in the assault. Bipin was the sole person captured.
"We saw each other for the last time when he and others were being shifted to a different bunker," Dhan Bahadur says. "Because, after the injury, I and remained stayed in the first bunker. I came to know that there were multiple assaults in the bunker where Bipin took refuge and he was held captive from there."

Personal Memories
The 27-year-old states he feels profound grief after hearing about his colleague's death. Dhan Bahadur and his companion studied together in Far Western University School of Agriculture in their hometown, Nepal.
"His friends undertook every efforts from our perspective to secure his release. They attempted everything. But yesterday, we had to confront such shocking information. The entire nation is in grief. Personally do not know what to say. Truly have no words to describe my sorrow."
Dhan Bahadur says Bipin and fellow students had the same aspiration of making little earnings and establishing their personal enterprise after returning from the educational opportunity in Israel.
"Bipin enjoyed participating in soccer and basketball. We would converse for extended periods about our ambitions and aspirations. He desired to get his body in excellent condition and to buy a latest device. Together even created a song about companionship with a phone. He also spoke about presenting himself in a visual production."

Recent Developments
On 14 October, the defense authorities said they suspected Bipin Joshi was "killed in detention during the first months of the war". There's no way of externally confirming that.
But if it's the situation, the survivor said, the international community should ask Hamas about the reasons it occurred.
The survivor mentioned he had lacked any assistance from national authorities following his wounding but hoped the host nation would help his friend's family.
The student's close relatives have withheld any statement so far.
Video from the attack date showed him walking inside al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City. His relatives obtained no signs of life for a twelve months, until the Israeli military shared a video of him in captivity around November 2023.
Family members described the material as "proof of life" just hours before the ceasefire deal was finalized, and were hoping for a miracle.
Now in his native place of his community Bipin's family are grieving after hearing information of his death.
