Nearly 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the region, bringing strong winds hitting over 100 km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Widespread Impact
Homeowners reported large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by significant hail.

Utility workers were working to restore electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams working to address the extensive power failures.
Victorian Weather Woes
Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also encountered power outages after the capital city recorded its wettest day in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams received over five hundred emergency reports across the state, primarily for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with continued thunderstorm potential anticipated across different parts of both regions.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
